Sculpture > Futuristic Fossil

Futuristic Fossil will explore the recent assemblage sculptures of Natalie Collette Wood. Her past work is made from discarded plastic, steel, wood, clay, moss, and personal items to create forms that are reminiscent of another planet or a Futuristic Fossil. The work is autobiographical and questions ideas of imperfect beauty and its relationship to fantasy and the exotic by creating a tension between the natural and synthetic. This installation will be made mostly out of found materials and will incorporate discarded materials from her personal life. Wood is questioning our relationship with waste and perfection. The installation will include a library of hanging large-scale work that will extend onto the walls and floor as well as a shadow installation.
